Another suspect charged in Garland home invasion

CLINTON - A sixth Roseboro resident has been charged in the shooting of a 15-year-old during a home invasion in December.

Maurice Kendall Devane, 32, of the 500 block of North Pine Street, surrendered to authorities last week, according to Capt. Eric Pope of the Sampson County Sheriff's Office.

Devane is accused of taking part in the break-in reported in the 7000 block of Old Mintz Highway in Garland on Dec. 26, Pope said.

The 15-year-old and a man identified as Chris Johnson, 27, who lived in the house, were inside at the time, Pope said.

A PlayStation video game system, two televisions and two nail guns were taken, Pope said.

The 15-year-old was taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life threatening, Pope said.

The incident is believed to be gang related, Pope said.

Others who have been charged are: Michael Zimmmerman, 24, of the 700 block of North Pine Street; Lamar Hanif Walker and Christopher Javon Parker, both 24 and both of the 600 block of South East Street; Buddha Victoria, 31, of the 2300 block of Old Mintz Highway; and Nicholas Moore, 17, of the 600 block of Boone Street.
