Man faces charges in Amber Alert

CLINTON - An Autryville man who took his son from their home late Monday, prompting an Amber Alert, has been charged, Sampson County investigators said Tuesday.

Jose Ramon Torres-Ventura, 31, of Calico Lane, is charged with assault on a female, communicating threats, assault on a child under 12 and injury to personal property, authorities said.

Ventura assaulted his pregnant live-in girlfriend, Nalleli Taxilaga-Olea, the release said, and left with 4-year-old Ramon Marlon Torres.

Investigators issued an Amber Alert, but Ventura returned home with the child later Tuesday morning.
